Major gains for Davit Kajaia and Milan Vuković in KUMHO TCR World Ranking
Davit Kajaia and Milan Vuković, the two race winners from the TCR Eastern Europe weekend at Red Bull Ring, both made major gains in the KUMHO TCR World Ranking this week.
Georgian racing star Kajaia, who despite an established touring car history is new to the ranking this year which only counts results back to 2021, is fast moving up the ranking after just three race weekends – and is already up to 153rd of the 1,000+ drivers, climbing 72 places this week.
Vuković’s Race 1 victory helped propel the Swiss driver to 224th, up 85 places, and is now just eight places behind his father in the ranking.
Mat’o Homola, René Kircher, and Sebastien Steibel are now the drivers who are currently placed in positions that will qualify them for the TCR World Ranking Final, should these be maintained until the end of the year. Homola moved up just one spot to 22nd, while Kircher moved up to 30th position.
Steibel’s best weekend of the season, with a second-place finish in Race 2, has moved him up to 56th. With the top 45 after the KUMHO TCR World Tour top 15 drivers are removed from the ranking qualifying for the final, Steibel is actually in what would be the final qualifying position at the moment (represented by the final silver star on the website), while just one spot behind him, Petr Čížek, would miss the cut.
A pair of fifth place finishes was perhaps the strongest result for Italian driver, competing with Slovenian racing outfit LEMA Racing in TCR competition, and has helped the driver in one of the brightest Audis in the world move up the order. Ghermandi’s 26-place gain has seen him move into 188th place and one of nine TCR Eastern Europe drivers in the top 100.
There’s a close group of drivers just outside of 200th, with a further seven drivers from the series from Radim Adámek to Tobias Poschik separated across 207th to 252nd.
