Hyundai Janík Motorsport dominates TCR Eastern Europe qualifying at Hungaroring

Team Hyundai Janík Motorsport has conquered the qualification for the opening race at the Hungaroring round of TCR Eastern Europe. All three drivers with Hyundai Elantra’s occupied the first three positions, with Maťo Homola in first, followed by Carlo Czepiel and Adam Kout.

Qualifying was interrupted by red flags, but it didn’t change the outcome of the session. Homola was fastest from the beginning and kept improving his lap times during his drive. He was followed closely by newcomer Czepiel, who is fast gaining experience with the TCR car. He studied Homola’s drive and was able to move up to the second place in the closing stage of qualifying. Kout dropped to third place, and due to the traffic on the track, he wasn’t able to put together a fast lap before the end of the session.

Promising debut for Tobias Poschik

Young Austrian driver Tobias Poschik joined the Clio Cup last year and won the championship on his first attempt. This year, he’s competing in TCR Eastern Europe, driving last year’s winning Audi. Despite the tougher competition in TCR, Poschik has already scored a podium finish in his second start.

Poschik’s transition from the Clio Cup was a welcome change, and he chose Aditis Racing Team as his home for the 2023 season. This team won last year’s drivers’ championship with Bartosz Groszek, and now Poschik drives Groszek’s Audi RS3 TCR. Although it’s an older generation car, it’s still quite fast.
